Sign the chef's petition to stop the DARK Act and protect GMO labeling

As chefs, we care about what's in the food we cook and serve to our customers.

But if the processed and junk food companies get their way, our right to know what's in the food we serve and eat will be just a memory. That's because Big Food has lobbied Congress to move forward a dangerous bill to prevent mandatory labeling of genetically modified ingredients.

The most recent legislation, which our good food allies have dubbed the "DARK Act," was released just last week, and the Senate is looking to move quickly to pass it into law. That's because Vermont's landmark GMO labeling bill is set to go into effect this summer, and Big Food will do whatever it takes to keep from labeling food that contains GMOs.

We must act now to ensure that the politicians in Congress know chefs across the country reject this giveaway to the processed food industry. Our collective voice could have a massive impact to keep this legislation from moving any further in the process.

Here's the text of the petition we will send to Congress:

As chefs, we have a fundamental right to know what's in the food we cook and serve to our customers. We urge you to reject any attempt to prevent the mandatory labeling of genetically modified food.

Whether or not you use or serve GMO food in your restaurants isn't the point. This comes down to our right to know what's in the food we prep, cook, and serve.

We hope you will join Tom Colicchio and add your name to this petition. It will have a big impact to protect our right to know. Sign the petition: Tell Congress to reject the DARK Act and require mandatory GMO labels.
